Catching up on Week 1 with our Don Pablito x Mo Chuisle litter!
These updates are from the pups’ first week of life, when everything was still brand new. They were nursing like champs, sleeping hard, and starting to show their little personalities during early scent introduction (ESI). We’ve been keeping detailed notes along the way, and we’re excited to finally share a peek into those first few days.
ESI is the process of us introducing a new scent daily to the pups. We track whether their reaction is positive, neutral, or negative. Some sniff curiously, some lean in, and a few just aren’t impressed. Totally normal at this stage, and very fun to watch!
Here’s what we’ve used so far:
Day 1 – Chamomile
Day 2 – Lavender
Day 3 – Alfalfa
Day 4 – Pine
Red Girl seems to like alfalfa and lavender
Orange Girl liked chamomile and lavender
Yellow Boy has liked every single scent so far
Green Boy is right there with yellow — all positive reactions
Blue Girl is playing it cool — she only perked up for lavender
We’re also weighing daily to keep tabs on growth. Here’s where everyone was on Day 6:
Orange Female – 2.1 lbs
Blue Female – 2.1 lbs
Red Female – 2.1 lbs
Yellow Male – 2.0 lbs
Green Male – 1.9 lbs
Everyone is gaining steadily and Mo Chuisle is doing an awesome job keeping them fed, clean, and cozy. Next up, we’ll keep working through new scents and watching for eyes to open — usually one of the first big milestones in these early weeks. We’ll be back soon with more updates as their personalities start to really shine.
Thanks again for following along!
