The puppies are growing quickly, and they've officially reached a fun milestone... they're no longer naked!
Today, each puppy received a colored collar to help us tell them apart as they continue to grow. It's a small milestone, but an exciting one, especially as we begin tracking each puppy's individual development.
We're also continuing to monitor daily weights to make sure everyone is growing as expected.
Today's Weights
- Blue Female: 1.6 lbs
- Green Male: 1.5 lbs
- White Female: 1.7 lbs
- Brown Male: 1.7 lbs
We're happy with everyone's progress so far, and all four puppies continue to nurse well and gain weight.
Today also marked the beginning of Early Scent Introduction (ESI). During the first two weeks of life, each puppy is introduced to a different scent every day. The goal isn't to teach them to like or dislike a particular scent, but to provide gentle early experiences during an important stage of development.
Each puppy's response is documented as positive, negative, or no reaction.
- Positive means the puppy showed interest in the scent by moving toward it, sniffing it, or interacting with it.
- Negative means the puppy turned away from or avoided the scent.
- No reaction means the puppy didn't show a noticeable response either way.
There are no right or wrong responses. Every puppy is different, and these early observations don't predict future temperament. They're simply one small part of documenting each puppy's development.
