At seven weeks old, our pit bull puppies go through an important milestone in our program: their first full vet check. This visit helps ensure that each pup is healthy, developing properly, and ready for the final stretch before go-home day. At Bad to the Bone Kennels, we take health seriously. A vet visit isn’t just a box to check—it’s a key part of how we raise stable, well-cared-for pit bulls with a strong foundation.

What We Cover During the 7-Week Vet Check
Here’s what a typical exam includes:
-
Full physical exam: From nose to tail—eyes, ears, teeth, coat, heart, lungs, and more
-
Weight and body condition scoring: Tracking healthy growth and balance across the litter
-
Heart and lung check: Listening for murmurs or breathing concerns
-
Umbilical check: Screening for hernias
-
Temperament observations: Noting how each puppy handles touch and a new setting
Some breeders administer first vaccines at this age—we work closely with our vet to decide the best vaccination timing for each litter based on individual needs and placement dates.

Why This Step Matters

-
Each pit bull puppy is healthy and thriving before going to a new home
-
Any concerns are identified and addressed early
